Don’t worry about a strict dress code. You will see everything from suits and dresses to casual jeans and t-shirts—we care far more about you being here than what you are wearing.

We love families! We have engaging, age-appropriate Sabbath School classes starting at 9:30 AM where your kids can learn about Jesus through stories and activities. During the main service, children are completely welcome in the sanctuary.
🍲 Stay for Lunch! (The 3rd Sabbath Fellowship Lunch)
If you visit us on the 3rd Saturday of the month, please don’t rush off after the service! We host a community fellowship lunch right in the Krenzler hall. The food is entirely on us, and we would love the chance to sit down, share a meal, and get to know you better.

🗨️ About Seventh-day Adventists
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream Protestant church with approximately 24 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that Jesus is coming again soon.
Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father’s will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.
When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.
Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.
🗨️ What We Believe
Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the Protestant conviction Sola Scriptura—the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.
Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.
❓ Question: Why do Adventists worship on Saturday instead of Sunday?
Answer: We observe the Seventh-day Sabbath (from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) because it is the original day of rest established by God at Creation and commanded in the Fourth Commandment. Biblical and historical records show that Jesus, His disciples, and the early Christian church strictly honored Saturday as the Sabbath.
❓ Question: Are all Seventh-day Adventists vegetarians?
Answer: No, vegetarianism is not a requirement for church membership or salvation. However, because the Bible teaches that our bodies are “temples of the Holy Spirit,” the church strongly advocates for a healthy lifestyle. While many members choose a plant-based diet, those who eat meat strictly follow the biblical guidelines regarding clean and unclean foods (avoiding pork and shellfish, as outlined in Leviticus 11).
❓ Misconception: Is the Seventh-day Adventist Church a cult?
Answer: No. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream, globally recognized Protestant Christian denomination with nearly 24 million members worldwide. We fully uphold the orthodox Christian doctrines of the Trinity, the divinity of Jesus Christ, His sinless life, His crucifixion for our sins, and His literal resurrection.

💡History Of The Scappoose – St. Helens SDA Church
In the year 1927 several Adventist were meeting in the St. Helens area in private homes for Sabbath services. Following a series of meetings with G. E. Johnson, and then later with the Verden brothers, the group grew rapidly. in 1928 a small church building was erected on 17th street in St. Helens. the church was officially organized on July 27, 1929. this small brown-stained building became affectionately known as “The Little Brown Church.” As the church family grew the need of a larger facility became apparent. The Grace Baptist church purchased it and their new church sits on the property it and their church sits on the property now.
In 1938 a site was purchased by Walther Haffner on S. Columbia River Highway, and a new church was build the next year under the building chairmanship of Sam Blehm Sr. (Sam’s son Walt later became the President of the Oregon Conference.) This building, with some later additions, served the congregation from Nov. 4, 1939 when the first meeting was held in the unfinished building in July 11, 1959, when fire damaged it to such an extent it was unfeasible repair. With the decision to build a new church school along with a new church, present property was secured with the school constructed first.
❓ Question: Do I have to be a member to attend your church or participate in Communion?
Answer: Not at all! Everyone is welcome to attend our Sabbath School classes and Worship services. When we celebrate Communion (which we do quarterly), we practice an “Open Communion,” meaning any believer who loves Jesus is welcome to participate in both the foot-washing service and the bread and cup.
❓ Question: What happens during Sabbath School at 9:30 AM?
Answer: Sabbath School is our interactive, small-group Bible study hour before the main service. We have designated classes for all age groups (from toddlers to youth) as well as adult classes where we open the Bible, discuss a weekly lesson, ask questions, and share prayer requests together.
